Eligibility
This fellowship is available to those who have completed their basic training in pathology, either Anatomic Pathology (AP) or combined Anatomic Pathology-Clinical Pathology (CP), with at least two years of AP training in an accredited United States or Canadian program.

All qualified applicants are welcome, but preference will be given to those committed to an academic career in pathology. A definite attempt will be made to identify individuals interested in combining two pathology fellowships offered at Memorial Sloan-Kettering under the assumption that this experience should provide them with a strong basis for a successful career in Academic Pathology.

Therefore, preference for the subspecialty fellowships and Molecular Pathology fellowships will be given to those who have completed the Oncologic Pathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering or those who have had an analogous experience in a similar institution.

Early application is encouraged.

Surgical Pathology Subspecialty Fellowships
Advanced training in the following Surgical Pathology subspecialty areas is available: breast pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, genitourinary pathology, gynecologic pathology, dermatopathology, thoracic pathology, and hematopathology. These one-year fellowship programs provide intensive exposure to all the components of the respective subspecialty, concentrating on the investigative aspects.

Clinical responsibilities include exposure to in-house and consultation cases related to the applicant's subspecialty. Ample time is provided for research projects carried out under the supervision of the attending pathologists. Exposure to the various techniques used in that subspecialty (immunohistochemical, cytogenetic, molecular, etc.) and interaction with other clinical and basic departments working in the field are an integral part of the program. Basic research work is carried out in one of the laboratories of the Division of Molecular Pathology.
