Cytopathology Fellowship
Description:
This 1-year program, directed by Dr. Momin Siddiqui, offers training in clinical and histopathologic correlation and may be combined with research. This fellowship will lead to board eligibility if elected following a full program (4 AP/CP; 3 AP). Activities are centered at Emory University, Grady Memorial, Crawford Long Hospitals, and The Emory Clinic. The combined annual volume of cytologic specimens in these sites is more than 65,000, including more than 4,000 fine needle aspirations of superficial and deep lesions. Fellows work with the faculty and develop increasingly independent diagnostic activities, including performing and interpreting fine needle aspirations. Fellows also plan and participate in departmental and interdepartmental conferences and instruct residents and medical students. Resources available for clinical or basic research include laboratory facilities and faculty expertise in flow and image cytometry, immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, and polymerase chain reaction.
