The 63-year old U.S.S. Intrepid
is a major tourist attraction
in New York City
This is a sight you don't see every day, and we were lucky to catch it. The pictures in this story were taken from DOTmed's offices which are located near the lower end of Manhattan.
The 63-year old U.S.S. Intrepid -- a World War II aircraft carrier that was decommissioned long ago and moored in Manhattan as a popular tourist destination -- is seen here on its way to Bayonne, New Jersey, where it will be totally refurbished during a two-year make-over.

The U.S.S. Intrepid, at just over 900 feet long,
under tow on the Hudson River
near the tip of Manhattan.
Yes, that is New Jersey on the other side.
The Intrepid will be returned to its original location at Pier 86 in November 2008. Feel free to come to the DOTmed office then to watch its journey back.
