Attention Hospital Brass: Have Assets You Want to Sell? DOTmed and Our Readers Want to Hear From You

by Robert Garment, Executive Editor | December 05, 2006

If your hospital has equipment that’s about to be de-commissioned or replaced with an upgrade, or if you have equipment in storage, does that equipment make it onto the re-sale market? Or does it just sit there – its value never recouped?

Our readers would like to know. DOTmed is the #1 place on the Internet for the sale of used medical equipment, and we have plenty of users who can help you turn the equipment back into cash.

DOTmed can help you if you help us. We believe a lot of hospitals do not have a re-sale program in place, because we have never heard or seen the title “Director of Equipment Redeployment” or anything like that.

If your hospital does re-sell in a structured manner, we would very much like to hear how you do it – other hospitals would too. Our guess is the Materials Managers, Purchasing, CFOs, and Department Heads are all focused on selecting upgrades, and that most healthcare facilities don’t have the time or people to manage the re-sale process.

If you were to set up a re-sale program, who would be involved? Which departments and titles? There are brokers and dealers out there who will buy your equipment. Please send your thoughts, ideas and comments Send us your Comments. We’ll report on the input in a week or two.
