Hi, do you remember that I talked about "Movie Therapy" in my past dairy? (FYI - Movie Therapy is a mind therapy that involves the client viewing certain films under the supervision of a therapist in order to help treat emotional and mental conditions.) Since Movie Therapy has several application, we can create Our-Own therapy. As for me, watching a movie is a tool to study foreign languages - especially English, and that gives me confidence in my English abilities and international understanding.

I watched two Spanish movies last weekend - one was "Volver" and the other was "Pan's Labyrinth." (They are impressive ones, by the way.) It was a challenge to see them because they were in Spanish with English captions. Even though it was not the first time for me to watch a movie with English captions, I wanted to be sure if I was able to understand how it went.

I only know a few words of Spanish; therefore, I hardly understood what they spoke. Also, since English is not my native tongue, I missed some parts. I needed to concentrate on the movies to follow the captions and images at the same time. At the beginning, it seemed a little difficult, however, I got used to - in fact I really enjoyed it!

As you know, there are a lot of movie theaters which have different specialties in New York City. Many of them show Hollywood films and some show Indies including foreign ones. I think it is one of the best parts to enjoy different kinds of movies about living in NYC. Don't you think it is nice to learn other country culture through movies? I am sure that the movies I watched last weekend prompted me to try seeing more foreign films. I know many DOTmed users are outside of U.S. Please let me know if you have something to recommend!
