Course Description
The 2007 course will present current treatments, new and emerging technologies and controversies in spine care management. An internationally recognized faculty has been assembled to present on such topics as: latest trends in thoracic and lumbar spinal surgery; cervical disc replacement; update on osteobiologics and biomechanics; and update on artificial discs and non-fusion spinal technologies. Participants are encouraged to join faculty for discussions and debates regarding the above topics. There will be ample opportunity for interaction with our noted faculty.
Educational Objectives
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
* Discuss ethical issues regarding surgical decision making
* Diagnose and manage care of patients with back pain
* Evaluate the scientific data regarding current controversial spine topics
* Apprise patients of nonoperative and operative strategies on the treatment of spinal disorders
* Assess controversial areas relevant to the treatment of patients with spinal stenosis
* Compare various surgical options and techniques as related to degenerative disc disease (DDD) of the spine
* Identify appropriate indication and correction for spinal deformity patients
* Describe alternative osteobiological solutions to solve common spinal disorders
* Interpret the basic concepts of motion preservation technology
Accreditation
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Nurses
The California and Nevada State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal.
