The 2016 FUJIFILM Medical Systems/RSNA Medical Student Grant was awarded to Jacob Scott Thurston, B.S. of Medical College of Wisconsin. The grant provides a $3,000 stipend, matched by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for a total of $6,000 to pursue a research project in the radiologic sciences. Mr. Thurston will investigate the cost effectiveness of using percutaneous ultrasound guided femoral artery access compared to open surgical exposure of the femoral artery during endovascular procedures. The study will provide insight into interventional radiology's impact on efforts to reduce healthcare costs.
