Trauma teams respond to thousands of dynamic, chaotic situations every day. In a split second, a highly diverse medical team is thrown together to function as a cohesive unit in our emergency rooms and trauma departments.
At the Fourth Annual Scottsdale Healthcare Trauma Conference, national and local
experts will again focus on trauma, the third leading cause of death in the United States. Trauma strategies, current diagnostics, new procedural techniques and the latest in trauma care, technology advancements and disaster preparedness will be presented during the three-day conference.
Trauma conference topics include approaches to disaster management, pandemic flu, wound challenges, pre-hospital innovations, "Disaster Jeopardy" and other topics directly related to trauma care. Concurrent Trauma Department Situations are back this year with rural trauma, geriatric trauma, controversial fluid resuscitation, trauma resiliency, pelvic trauma and abdominal trauma.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
*Identify the latest trends and advancements in trauma care, technology advancements, bioterrorism defense and disaster preparedness.
*Evaluate new procedural and diagnostic challenges as they relate to trauma.
*Examine current trauma diagnostics and procedural techniques in trauma patient evaluation.
*Define current concepts in evaluating a critical trauma patient.
Accreditation
Physicians. Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn is accredited by the Arizona Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses. Scottsdale Healthcare is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Arizona Nurses Association. AzNA is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation for a maximum of 17.2 contact hours.
Pre-hospital. Approved for a maximum 14.25 contact hours under the Department of Arizona Health Services.
Respiratory care. This program has been approved for 15.5 CEUs through the Arizona Society for Respiratory Care (AzSRC).
Target Audience
All medical professionals interested in the field of trauma care, including physicians, residents, nurses, pre-hospital professionals, respiratory therapists and any person who expects to care for trauma patients in the future.
Needs Assessment
This is an annual meeting aimed at improving the quality of care in the field of trauma care. The topics are selected through the review of previous evaluations, faculty perception and requests from participants.
