Presently, the younger patients in need of dialysis take dialysis in the mornings and go to work. Thus, the elders are left to take their dialysis at odd and inconvenient hours. The Dialysis Center would be focusing mainly on elder patients' needs. The elders need not travel to the Center for tests. The trained technicians would visit their homes, collect samples of blood, urine, etc., and get the laboratory tests seen by experienced doctors and the medical advice would be sent to their homes.
The Bangalore Kidney Foundation has also tied up with the manufacturers of renal therapy products to get medicines directly at cost price. Thus the cost of a dialysis at this center would be Rs.450/- i.e., USD10.!--perhaps the lowest in the country.
The Foundation will also hold Preventive and Awareness Camps for the elders. With the increase in the aging population and also a steep increase in people afflicted with diabetes, the risk of renal failure becomes more and more common. Hence, the Bangalore Kidney Foundation would be playing an active role in making people aware of such risks and to take preventive measures.
