The program was formalized in 1872, when students at Syracuse University's College of Medicine were granted clinical instruction privileges at the hospital. As a teaching facility, St. Joseph's must keep on top of the latest knowledge in medicine as well as the newest in technology in order to attract "the brightest and the best."
