Service costs are also an area of consideration for women’s health equipment, especially for a mammography purchase. Due to the more advanced technology of mammography systems, MD Buyline recommends a full service agreement including glassware and detector coverage, which can average from $40,000 to $50,000 per year. Bone density and biopsy systems can often be serviced in-house or with a less costly bio-med first call agreement. This is a solid option for those facilities with a strong bio-med department.
Customers considering any mammography or other women’s health purchase typically stay with their current in-house vendor, unless they can be swayed by deep discounts or promotional offers too good to pass up. Familiarly with a vendor is more often the reason given by the majority of facilities that continue to choose one vendor over another in this competitive market.
