With a keen eye on the changing world economic climate and political developments that impact global business, G-Tech actively explores emerging and relatively unsaturated markets to respond to need and cultivate new business. Recently, they helped a large private hospital in Sri Lanka relocate, install equipment and train staff on an advanced cardiac cath lab. Although their role was in support of GE and not as the providers of the equipment, they forged both a great relationship and a significant new customer.
G-Tech Medical Services Managing Partner, Scooter Childs factors the weak American dollar as something that can actually be capitalized on, noting that currently American products are about 24% cheaper that those manufactured in the Euro zone- a clear bonus when drumming up business overseas. In addition, new trade resolutions are about to be finalized with the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Oman) that will create a fee trade area exclusive to American products.
Childs credits the Internet for raising G-Tech's visibility, and DOTmed.com in particular as instrumental in earning a number of new customers. In fact, they are seeing an average growth of about 25% each year. When asked to share one of the secrets to their growing international success, Childs offered, "American companies need to learn the different time zones and work hours of other regions. If they want to sell equipment and service worldwide, they cannot go home on Friday and forget that many people are just starting their week."
