June 26, 2017 -- MEDICA 2017, World Forum for Medicine, will address the rapid changes in the international healthcare sector. The No. 1 trade fair for this sector is renowned for not only presenting solutions for individual medical specialist disciplines but solutions for the complete “workflow” of patient treatment. This year, about 5,000 exhibitors from more than 68 nations will use MEDICA to offer the entire range of new product services and processes for impatient and outpatient care. An extensive conference program will complement the exhibits and also focus on the industry’s current changes. MEDICA will take place from November 13 – 16, 2017 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.
An important topic at MEDICA 2017 will be digitalization with “networking”’ and “artificial intelligence” already influencing product development. Visitors will be able to get up to date information – through the exhibitors' new products as well as during the presentations and talks at the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM, the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM and the MEDICA APP COMPETITION.
After a robot capable of setting up needles for infusions and biopsies was first introduced at MEDICA 2016, artificial intelligence will again be on the agenda at this year's MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM (hall 15). What in the past seemed pure science fiction is currently on the way of becoming reality. This also applies to the field of medical imaging. The first applications to use artificial intelligence for the automated detection of possible tumors on the basis of digitally generated image data from CRT or MRT systems are about to be launched on the market.

The MEDICA ECON FORUM will be the platform for political dialogue on health issues (hall 15), organized by the Techniker Krankenkasse. The opportunities and consequences resulting from the digitalization of the health sector will be a major topic.
In order to meet the needs of the international audience, the program for the accompanying conferences and the forums integrated into MEDICA has over recent years been restructured and aligned on a more international level - with many events also presented in English and rounded off by ever-new formats focusing on specific topics.
A new feature will be the MEDICA START-UP PARK in Hall 15, highlighting digital start-up companies with their eHealth applications ranging from innovative services and smart products to software applications. This will bring founders of innovative businesses together with potential business partners, investors and distribution partners. Complementing the contents presented at the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM and the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM (both also in Hall 15), up to 40 start-ups will showcase their ideas on 5,380 square feet of exhibit space at the MEDICA START-UP PARK.
