SCHWARZENBRUCK, GERMANY, June 26, 2017 – IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A.), the global high-tech leader in the next generation of proton therapy solutions and radiation therapy integrated quality assurance for the treatment of cancer, announces the accreditation of an ICC training course by the European Board for Accreditation in Medical Physics (EBAMP). IBA Dosimetry successfully passed the evaluation for its ICC training course “Small Fields and FFF: The New Regulation DIN 6809-8 in Theory and Hands-on Practice.” This is the first training for which IBA applied for accreditation under the new procedure set by the European Federation of Medical Physics Associations (EFOMP). The training was judged according to the EBAMP protocol and has been assigned with 23 credit points at EQF Level 7.

Following a new European Accreditation procedure for trainings in Medical Physics, EFOMP has installed the committee EBAMP (www.ebamp.eu). The committee strictly evaluates training courses regarding their content, course material and qualification of the lecturers.

Dr. Lutz Müller, director of the ICC, said: “We are proud of having the first ICC course accredited under the new procedure which confirms the professional standard of our course offerings in terms of program, lecturers and state-of-the-art infrastructure including a clinical linac. I have always seen the ICC as an international platform for exchange between physicists. Since its very beginning, we have had students in all our classes from various European countries. The new accreditation system strengthens the ‘European Spirit’ and adds a great value to our course participants.”
