ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The American Society of Radiologic Technologists will donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts caused by Hurricane Irma. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT's 153,000 members.
"Hurricane Irma hit shortly after Hurricane Harvey landed in the Houston area, so there are a lot individuals who need support right now," said ASRT President Amanda Garlock, M.S., R.T.(R)(M). "We hope that our donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Irma, coupled with our donation for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, will help our members and their families get their lives back in order."
We are currently working with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to determine how many radiologic technologists are affected by the hurricane. As we are doing for members who live in Federal Emergency Management Agency-declared disaster areas in Texas, we will extend the ASRT membership period for members and provide access to alternative programs so they can maintain their membership and continuing education requirements.
