AIUM Welcomes President Joshua Copel, MD

Harvey L. Nisenbaum, MD, was named president-elect of the AIUM for the 2007-2009 term. Dr Nisenbaum is chair of the Department of Medical Imaging at Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center and an associate professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Also new to the AIUM Executive Committee is J. Oscar Barahona, BS, RDMS, who was elected as second vice president for the 2007-2009 term. Barahona is president and secretary of Greenwich Ultrasound Associates, PC, in Greenwich, Connecticut.
J. Brian Fowlkes, PhD, was reelected for a second term as secretary.

In addition, the AIUM Board of Governors welcomed 5 new members for the 2007-2011 term. These include Teresita Angtuaco, MD, a radiologist from the University of Arkansas; David Bahner, MD, RDMS, an emergency medicine physician from Ohio State University; Levon Nazarian, MD, a radiologist from Thomas Jefferson University; Cindy Rapp, BS, RDMS, a sonographer from Columbia Swedish Medical Center; and Thomas Shipp, MD, an obstetrician from Brigham and Women's Hospital. The AIUM Board of Governors is composed of 15 members of varying specialties and disciplines to reflect the AIUM's multidisciplinary membership.

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine is a multidisciplinary association dedicated to advancing the safe and effective use of ultrasound in medicine through professional and public education, research, development of guidelines, and accreditation.
