Düsseldorf, Germany – At this year’s MEDICA World Forum for Medicine in Düsseldorf, Germany, Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, is showcasing innovative sleep therapy, respiratory care and diagnostic ultrasound solutions that connect people, technology and data across the health continuum – from healthy living and prevention to disease diagnosis, treatment and home care.

“At Philips, we believe a patient’s journey through the healthcare system should be seamless and highly personalized, with the right care delivered at the right time in the right place,” said Frans van Houten, CEO Royal Philips. “That means systems need to talk to each other so that all the relevant data is available whenever and wherever it’s needed. Philips Lumify app-based mobile ultrasound
Connected to a user-supplied compatible Android smart device, Philips’ Lumify app-based hand-held ultrasound solution helps healthcare professionals make fast, informed decisions in a wide range of applications. Pre-sets are already available for cardiac, abdominal (including lung), obstetrics/gynecology, superficial, vascular, soft tissue, musculoskeletal, gallbladder, and FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) examinations. Lumify’s suite of point-of-care transducers allows physicians in multiple point-of-care situations to take advantage of every crucial moment without the time and mobility restrictions of locating a full-blown ultrasound cart. To use Lumify, they simply have to download the Lumify app to a compatible Android smart device from the Google Play store, connect the Lumify transducer to the device and launch the app to begin scanning. The app now features several newly introduced upgrades, including the ability for users to adjust the orientation of the image and marker, and new obstetrics calculations for fetal age calculation. Philips Lumify is now available in Germany, as well as in many other countries around the world.
