Service League Volunteer Scholarship
The Washington Hospital Service League awards annual scholarships, as listed below, to Washington Hospital District students who are pursuing studies in a health-related field.

Two health career scholarships are awarded each year to graduating high school seniors and/or college students pursuing studies in a health related field.
Each scholarship is for $1,000 per year and is renewable each year for three additional years as long as the student remains in a health-related program. In addition, the student must continuously remain in good standing with a 2.50 GPA or higher. The scholarship is limited to four years.
Application process
Scholarship applications are available each year after January 1st at Washington Hospital.
Medical Staff Scholarships
The Washington Hospital Medical Staff offers scholarships each year to students residing within the Washington Township Health Care District who are pursuing careers in the health sciences field. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the nursing program at San Jose State University and another $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an Ohlone College nursing student.
Two scholarships are available for high school students entering any of the health science fields or college students currently enrolled:
1. The Medical Staff Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
2. The Robert Foley, MD, Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The Devorah Taghioff Scholarship, generally in the amount of $1,000, is awarded to a high school student pursuing a career in the health sciences who has distinguished himself/herself despite having to overcome significant financial or social obstacles. In addition, two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to Washington Hospital employees.
Application process
Applications are accepted between January and mid-March of each year for all the scholarships are available from the Medical Staff Office of Washington Hospital.
Washington Hospital Employee Association (WHEA) Scholarship
General Information/Criteria:
* WHEA will award a $2,000 scholarship to a dependent of a Washington Hospital Healthcare System employee.
* Selection of the award will be based on, but not limited to: grade point average, extracurricular activities, letters of
recommendation, other awards and honors, and personal autobiographical essay.
Eligibility Requirements:
*Applicant must be a dependent (under IRS rules & definitions) of a Washington Hospital Employee.
*Applicant must be a graduating senior, community college student, transferring community college student, or a student attending
a four-year institution.
*Applicant must plan to attend an accredited community college, university or vocational school on at least a half-time basis.
*Scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient's college and/or university.
*Applicant DOES NOT need to be pursuing a career in a healthcare related field to be eligible.
