ROSSLYN, Va., September 28, 2018—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published NEMA/MITA XE P1-2018 Modification of Image Displays of Interventional X-ray Equipment: Issues to be Considered. This new white paper gives stakeholders (including regulators, facility administrators, radiologists, medical doctors, and medical physicists) information on some of the issues and associated risks with the use of non-validated, third-party image displays.

"The validation of the monitor displays in an interventional x-ray system is a critical activity to ensure safe and effective operation during interventional procedures, as well as adherence to the applicable regulations," said Patrick Hope, Executive Director of MITA. "This whitepaper introduces the potential issues and describes in detail considerations that must be taken into account by the healthcare facility when replacing an original display with a non-validated display at installation and during maintenance or upgrades."
