NEW YORK – JPI Healthcare Solutions, a U.S.-based provider of diagnostic imaging components and equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the Longtail DR system, a single-TFT (thin film transistor) digital x-ray detector for use in emergency, orthopedic, and general radiology offices. At a length of 42 inches and width of 17 inches, the Longtail provides seamless images of the entire spine or legs with a single exposure, reducing radiation dose for patients and improving both workflow and diagnostic quality for practitioners.

Senior Product Manager of JPI Healthcare Solutions, Will Little, commented, "With the Longtail DR, there's no need to slowly reposition for multiple exposures or stitch the resulting images together. Just take one shot and immediately diagnose the issue or send the image out for reading one-two-three." Unlike competing products, JPI's Longtail detector is made of a single, continuous detector—not a composite of two or more pushed together and, so, will not have any artifacts at the joints, as there are none.

JPI's Longtail detector comes with custom-designed mounting and positioning solutions provided by Reina Imaging. This means the Longtail can be used for standing or table shots, and substitute completely for a standard sized detector when not capturing full spine shots.
