RaySearch releases RayCare 2C

by John R. Fischer , Staff Reporter
RayCare 2C, the latest version of RaySearch’s oncology information system, is now available for sale.

The third release of the OIS platform this year, the solution offers greater support to the workflow of modern cancer care environments, connecting different oncology disciplines for better optimal use of resources.

“This is only the beginning,” Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch, said in a statement. “Together with our RayCare-partners, we are building an OIS that will meet the needs of modern oncology and redefine cancer care."

The system now offers order management connected to workflows, enabling physicians to place orders that automatically trigger workflows and automated tasks. This improves communications and handovers between clinicians, and provides a continuous up-to-date overview of the order progress.

The patient chart has also been adjusted, offering clinical trials management with indicators for trial enrollment in the patient overview and showcasing basic patient vitals such as pulse, blood pressure, weight and lab results.

Further enhancements include rigid registration tools in the images viewer as well as improved RayStation integration.

The combination of these features are predicted to boost efficiency at a number of cancer care centers, including Provision CARES Proton Therapy Center in Nashville and the and Iridium Cancer Network in Belgium, both of which currently use RayCare for the management of their patients.

“These features are key to support a free-standing cancer center, like Provision CARES Proton Therapy Center in Nashville,” said Löf. “RayCare has been used clinically for nearly a year, and I'm thrilled that the development has gone as planned and that RayCare is already providing efficiency gains at two cancer centers.”

The release of RayCare 2C follows the unveiling this month of RaySearch's RayStation 8B platform, the first of any treatment planning system equipped with machine learning capabilities, according to the company. The RayStation platform was also selected this week to be the TPS for L´Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, a Canadian cancer center in Quebec.

The first clinical version of RayCare was released in December 2017 and adopted for clinical use after only two months by Iridium Cancer Center. Provision CARES Proton Therapy Center followed suit when it opened its doors in July, and uses the product as its sole OIS.
