The Tennessee Board of Radiologic Imaging and Radiation Therapy has started the rulemaking process for the state’s radiologic imaging and radiation therapy licensure program.
Passed in 2016, the licensure law expands licensure conditions to include additional types of health care settings where medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals practice. Previously in Tennessee, only personnel performing radiographic procedures in physicians' offices were required to hold a license.
Individuals who perform radiography, radiation, nuclear medicine, computed tomography, fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance, and other procedures using ionizing radiation or magnetic resonance fall under the new rules.
