PODER stands for Pre-Owned Diagnostic Equipment Resellers. The company boasts the largest inventory of diagnostic equipment in Miami, including mammography systems; bone density scanners; CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine equipment. They also stock many parts for GE mammography systems and Lunar densitometers including new tubes and detectors.
"We only sell from inventory. That's one thing that distinguishes us. We do not broker equipment,"
General Manager German Filgueira said. "We like to get the equipment in our warehouse, inspect it, and sell through stock."
PODER has reps and/or dealers in Mexico, Brazil, and Venezuela. Their customers enjoy a range of services such as staging, crating, shipping, installing and servicing worldwide. PODER offers a fair market evaluation of sellers' equipment. If interested, the company will buy so that sellers do not have to wait for a client to be found. PODER can de-install and remove the equipment from a facility and even offers a consignment program. (The company also sells new mobile C-arms for digital fluoroscopy and radiography along with other selected new equipment.)
PODER is a company with a heart that has put together a unique program to donate used medical equipment to poor regions of the world. "We are willing to donate to a qualified charity if they can prove they need the equipment and we have it on hand," Filgueira said. PODER Charities and Education Fund, Inc., the company's non-profit arm, also offers an education grant to eligible Hispanic students based on community service and academic achievement.
But the greatest power of all may come from PODER's reputation. "The DOTmed 100 is a valuable tool for new clients who may never have heard of us," he noted. They can look at us through IAMERS or check us out on the DOTmed 100 and know we are reliable."
