Named administrative director of behavioral health at Detroit Medical Center's Detroit Receiving Hospital

DETROIT – Detroit Medical Center (DMC), a leading regional healthcare system with a mission of excellence in clinical care, research and medical education, has recently named Susan Hallinan, MSN, RN CCDP, Administrative Director of Behavioral Health at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

In this role, Hallinan is responsible for providing day-to-day guidance, support and medical leadership for utilization management activities and decisions. She will also apply her extensive background in behavioral health, including crisis management and addictive behaviors, to all of the institution's behavioral health units.

She is a highly qualified mental health professional who has the DMC's full support," said Dr. Anthony Tedeschi, CEO of Detroit Medical Center. "Susan brings more than a decade of experience to the DMC and I'm confident that her appointment will help assist in our hospital's overarching dedication to create a community built on care."

Hallinan formerly served as the director of nursing at Harbor Oaks Hospital, where she oversaw 110 beds in the behavioral health facility housing adults, pediatrics, geriatrics, chemical dependent co-occurring disordered patients and autistic patients. Prior to her time at Harbor Oaks, she held the position of director of quality at Premier Hospice of Michigan, where she led all aspects of quality assurance and performance improvement direction including the management of federal and state regulations with regard to performance and accountability of the hospice facility. Her duties also included ensuring that the needs of patients and family members were effectively and efficienly met.

Hallinan received her BSN at the University of Michigan and attained her master's in nursing education and nursing science at Saginaw Valley State University.
