WASHINGTON, D.C. – Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), today sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on behalf of the industry regarding the Administration’s proposed tariffs on products imported from Mexico. He released the following statement:

“AdvaMed strongly opposes tariffs on medical technologies that save and improve countless lives every day. We’ve been engaged with the Administration and Congress regarding the proposed tariff increases on products from Mexico to make sure our views are known.

“Today I sent a letter to Ambassador Lighthizer expressing our opposition to these tariffs and asking that additional time for negotiations with Mexico be provided. If tariffs are implemented, we strongly believe that medical products that save and extend lives should be exempted from this action.”
