The hands-on experience is
reinforced by a core curriculum
Overview

OSU Medical Center residency program offers a quality graduate medical educational experience of adequate scope and depth in all of these associated diagnostic disciplines.

The Radiology Residency Program is a four-year training program preceded by a mandatory clinical internship in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery or its subspecialties, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, family practice, emergency medicine, or an ACGME or equivalent accredited transitional year.

Academic Experience

Residents begin with an orientation and progressively assume greater responsibilities in utilizing the diagnostic tools necessary for the completion of radiologic consultation and the interpretation of studies. They also begin to build a foundation in the terminology used in reports and the approaches for sophisticated procedures such as interventional biopsy, abscess drainage, and angiogram. During rotations through nine subspecialty areas in diagnostic radiology, residents receive instruction and reference materials that reinforce their daily experiences. Each section provides reading lists and many offer their own library facilities.

Rotations

Each rotation is a four week block of time. The first six rotations in the first year of residency consist of rotations that are considered core services -- These rotations offer a broad exposure to topics in the curriculum, initiating training and experience in the major imaging modalities and preparing a resident for general on-call duties. And the rotations include the thoracic, abdominal, ultrasound, musculoskeletal, neuroradiologic, and nuclear medicine services.

Application Information

The applications is accepted only through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). The interviews from November through the end of December. For the 2009 match our deadline for receiving applications is October 17, 2007.
