New York, NY (June 28, 2019)--Miroslav Djordjevic, MD, PhD, an internationally renowned surgeon and a world authority on surgery for transgender individuals, has joined the Mount Sinai Health System as a urogenital reconstructive surgeon at Mount Sinai's Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery (CTMS) and a Professor of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Djordjevic joins Mount Sinai from the Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery in Serbia. He is one of the few urologists in the world whose scope of expertise encompasses treatment of all anomalies of the genital system regardless of sex or age. He graduated from Belgrade University's School of Medicine and did his residency and fellowship training there. Dr. Djordjevic has been an invited lecturer and visiting professor at universities throughout the world. He is also the founder and leader of the Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery, a fellowship program that selects 20-30 international colleagues every year.

Dr. Djordjevic is President of the Society for Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and is a member of other urological and surgical associations, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the American Urological Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has also received numerous research awards and honors, including awards given by the European Association of Urology, the German Urological Association, and the European Society for Sexual Medicine.
