With 11,525 trade visitors from over 70 countries and 900 exhibitors, the recent staging of MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2019 in Bangkok, closed to record results. Visitor participation increased by 28% compared to the 2017 event and 40% of the visitors came from outside of Thailand, especially from Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam. The 3-day exhibition featured 21 country and group exhibits and also welcomed many visiting delegations and various industry trade associations from all over the world. In addition, more hospital and group visits from various public and private hospitals and medical facilities from Bangkok and the surrounding provinces were recorded. Bangkok Hospital, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Ramkhamheang Hospital and Vejthani Hospital were among the 95 organizations sending groups of representatives to MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2019.

New at this year’s MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND was the Community Care Pavilion, focusing on products and solutions for an ageing population such as remote sensors, monitoring devices and mobility solutions as well as the Start-Up Park - a platform for start-ups to showcase their innovations and to meet potential investors and customers. Popular with visitors and other exhibitors, the Start-up Park included companies from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. “We had a good stream of potential customers from local hospitals as well as visitors from India whom we had good conversations with,” stated Dr. Subhasis Banerji, Founder and Managing Director of SynPhNe Pte Ltd, one of the Start-up Park exhibitors.

Overall, exhibitors were pleased with their participation. First-time Korean exhibitor Plasmapp Co. Ltd. secured a US$2 million contract during the show. Their company specializes in medical sterilization devices utilizing high-quality plasma solutions. According to CEO Youbong Lim: “We have participated in many exhibitions and MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND has been very good since we are able to meet genuine dealers here. We have met potential leads from many countries, including Thailand and Singapore and we are overall very impressed with the exhibition.”

The heightened interest of the local medical and healthcare sector to promote Thailand’s expertise and capabilities was reflected on the show floor by three Thai pavilion organizers: the Thailand Center of Excellence of Life Sciences (TCELS), the Medical and Health Device Manufacturers Industry Club (MEDIC) and long-time exhibitor National Innovation Agency (NIA) of Thailand. The 60 Thai company representation also shows the country’s commitment to further strengthen its position as a leading hub for pharmaceuticals and medical devices and a world-class provider of medical care under the Thailand 4.0 initiative.
