to health care professionals.
Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, New York has a proud tradition as a 235-bed not-for-profit acute care hospital committed to providing outstanding medical and mental healthcare to the residents of Westchester and surrounding communities.

Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Programs

* Heartsaver - This 4-hour entry-level course offers guidelines for adult one-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and choking.

* Heartsaver/Automatic External Defribillator - This 4-hour Heartsaver Automated external defibrillator (AED) course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator.

* Heartsaver First Aid - HFA is a new program created by the American Heart Association which combines Adult CPR with First Aid procedures.

* Heartsaver Adult and Child - A 6-hour CPR program teaching CPR for adults and children (including infants), including how to make an enviroment safe for children.

* BCLS Healthcare Professional - The 8-hour BLS Healthcare Provider course is designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals who respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, including two-rescuer CPR and automated external defibrillation.

* Advanced Cardiac Life Support - The 16-hour Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course presents the skills and didactic information needed to manage advanced cardiac arrest therapy, events that may lead to a cardiac arrest, and events that follow a cardiac arrest. The core of this course is the evaluation and management of the first 10 minutes of a witnessed, adult, ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest.

* Pediatric Advanced Life Support - The goal of the 16-hour Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to provide the participant with (1) information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; (2) information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children; and (3) the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Classes

The Educational Resources Department offers the following CPR classes:

* Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
* Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Renewal

All of the classes comply with standards set by the American Heart Association and lead to American Heart Association certification. The course fee covers the cost of a handbook. Classes are held on weekdays and weekends.
