I am Akane Naka from Japan,
returning to DOTmed team.
Hi again - Do you know your weight when you were born? I found interesting news that was released last month. I am sure that by now, many people have read about the news. Although I know I am behind in this issue, I would like to share with you. Ok, so the news what I saw was "A 42-year-old Russian woman's 12th baby weighs in at 17 pounds (7.75kgs)!" Can you imagine how huge the baby is?

*According to World Health Organization figures, the average weight (born after 37 weeks) for healthy newborn babies is approximately 7 ½ pounds or 3.5 kgs.

This is just amazing. She told the reporter that she just ate potatoes, noodles and tomatoes while she was in her gestation period. And to be more surprise, all of her 11 other children weighed more than 11 pounds.

I wonder why some babies are so big. I believe mom's size has something to do with this, and how much she eats and gains weight during pregnancy. One important problem to avoid is gestational diabetes.

Especially during pregnancy, get diet- and nutrition-wise and stay healthy!
