WASHINGTON, D.C. – Scott Whitaker, President and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), issued the following statement on the emergence of the coronavirus:
“As the leading global association for the medical technology industry, we are actively working with the Chinese and U.S. governments on the growing public health concern posed by the coronavirus.
“FDA Commissioner Hahn is exactly right that we must ‘facilitate the development and availability of investigational medical products’ to address this global threat. We are working with key U.S. government agencies – including HHS, FDA, and CDC – as well as the Chinese government, to identify how we as an industry can help ensure that providers and patients everywhere have access to the medical technologies they need to help diagnose and fight this deadly virus.”
