LOS ANGELES - Carestream Health, Inc., demonstrated advanced features for its KODAK CARESTREAM PACS at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology (ASTRO) held here this week. These powerful features include a new image fusion application for PET/CT imaging and enhancements to its native real-time 3D capabilities.
Carestream Health also demonstrated its ability to manage and store patient information, treatment plans and images captured by a variety of different systems and its digital imaging platform, the KODAK 2000RT CR Plus System. The 2000RT CR Plus and the optional KODAK Radiation Oncology Beam Dosimetry Package provide flexibility and precision when conducting portal and simulation imaging, as well as essential dosimetric and physics QA tests.

In addition to fully featured image and information review, management and distribution, the CARESTREAM PACS delivers innovative features that include:
- Image fusion software to enable enhanced visualization of cancerous tumors and lesions. This software automatically overlays and registers image data from PET/CT systems, allowing oncologists a better view of anatomic and metabolic information to more confidently assess tumor volumes and disease progression.
- Native real-time 2-D and 3-D capabilities including MIP (maximum intensity projection), MinIP (minimum intensity projection), MPR (multiplanar reconstruction), volume rendering, tissue definition and vessel tracking functionality from a single virtual desktop.
Carestream Health also offers KODAK CARESTREAM Information Management Solutions that equip oncology treatment centers to store and manage patient information, treatment plans and images captured by a variety of different systems--all from a central database. This platform can help centers improve productivity and efficiency while reducing costs.
CR System for Radiation Oncology
The 2000RT CR Plus is a computed radiography system designed specifically for radiation oncology professionals. The system supports multiple treatment rooms and multiple linear accelerators and simulation devices, regardless of manufacturer or age. It can be networked to any DICOM-compatible QC image analysis software and oncology information system, as well as linked to a PACS to enable images to be reviewed on workstations outside the oncology department. A worklist function can be integrated with the hospital HIS/RIS to enable improved workflow and increased productivity.
