4 integrated lab rooms to
utilize computer-aided,
scenario-based training.
The EMS Academy is one of the Cleveland Clinic Health System's Western Region and works closely with Fairview, Lakewood and Lutheran Hospitals are to offer a full range of health services and community programs for consumers on the west side.

The EMS Academy is striving to provide the highest quality of education for all levels of EMS providers. To do so, the EMS Academy utilizes knowledgeable and experienced Instructional staff from a variety of pre-hospital environments. Their instructor pool currently includes individuals with more than 50 years of experience who are active in rural, urban and critical care environments.

Initial EMS Education
The Division of Initial Training provides First Responder through EMT-Paramedic certification courses. With the variety of resources available in the Cleveland Clinic Health System, students are provided clinical opportunities that will help to develop their knowledge and skills over and above that of other programs. They also provide EMS field internship opportunities with Cleveland EMS, numerous EMS Organizations and Regional Fire Departments. The goal of the Division of Initial EMS Education is to facilitate sound academic, clinical, and field opportunities with the leadership of healthcare providers who have fashioned the EMS profession.

EMS Continuing Education
The EMS Academy's Division of EMS Continuing Education is designed to challenge the provider and improve their career with education and practicum through unparallel educational offerings.

They offer the quality continuing education that is essential in maintaining and further developing the EMS professional. With quality education at the forefront, we believe the direct result will be improved patient care.

The courses are offered in a variety of ways that work with the busy lives of EMS professionals. They have educators from across the country that have prepared lectures that are available for your convenience on-line. The Continuing Education courses, lectures and labs are provided throughout the year at our new training center, or right at your department/service.

Trauma Extrication
This incredibly exciting and challenging course is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic EMS Academy in partnership with Howell Rescue Systems. The participants will attend approximately 3 hours of lecture which includes: The Assessment and Management of the Trauma Patient and an Extrication portion. The remaining 4-6 hours is conducted outside with 3 separate extrication and medical scenarios. Everyone has the opportunity to function on the extrication and medical team. All participants will receive 8 hours of EMS continuing education.
