Novatek also sells and repairs parts, offering savings of up to 50 percent.
The company, headquartered in Effingham, IL, employs a staff of 30 in five offices nationwide: Nashville and Cookeville, TN, Las Vegas, NV and Arcadia, CA, just outside of Los Angeles.
"All our offices are based in large metro areas with high medical needs," notes
Philip Stuemke, VP. This cuts down on transportation costs, important as gas prices rise, and provides Novatek clients with shorter turnaround time for repairs and replacements.
"Every one of our offices has its own equipment," Stuemke notes. "Each can buy, sell, rent or repair."
According to Stuemke, Novatek clients include the big and small, Baxter, GE and Siemens, for example, as well as dealers, brokers, hospitals and pharmacies.
"Our niche is easily portable medical equipment," he adds. "Ninety-five percent of what we deal with can be shipped UPS or FedEx. And we have a huge inventory."
The company began in 1996 and has seen its business get "constantly better", Stuemke says. Indeed, two additional offices will soon open, one outside of LA and the other at another Southern site.
"DOTmed has brought a lot of people to us," Stuemke says. "I'd say our growth is quite good."
Newly DOTmed Certified, Stuemke can take some family pride in his venture.
"I used to be in the computer field," he explains, "then the owner of Novatek married my sister, Diana, and moved his company from Tennessee to here. He needed an extra set of hands and I've been here from the start. At first, it was just the two of us selling IV pumps."
What keeps him happily at work now a decade later, Stuemke says, is "Every day is something different."
