Kortrijk, 10 September 2020 – Global technology leader Barco launches NexxisCare, a software system that offers the unique capability to continuously manage ORs in multiple facilities remotely, anticipate on issues and improve efficiency in surgical environments, whatever their size.

Surgical theaters are the place where a hospital’s most delicate interventions are executed, and on top of that, they’re also one of the largest profit centers. When time and cost are of the essence – for both the hospital and the patient – it is important that surgeons and their staff can rely on well-working, secure infrastructure.

With fast-paced digital evolutions going on, these infrastructures should be future-proof and able to keep up with new technologies for the OR. For example, 3D imaging and surgical robotics have become a reality and the number of minimally invasive surgeries and hybrid ORs continue to rise. Still, hospital budgets are not always rising in line with these evolutions. So efficient operability is of the essence for delivering excellent patient care.

Reliable and effective management of multiple ORs and facilities
In line with the trend towards big data use in clinical environments, NexxisCare is a flexible, cloud-based software system that enables connecting and managing multiple ORs of various facilities. NexxisCare collects technical data from the OR and visualizes them in a structured dashboard. In this way, problems can be detected proactively and maintenance can be scheduled in time.

Koen Van de Weyer, Senior Product Manager for Nexxis SaaS at Barco, says: “When we talked to our partners on how Barco could help in making our OR-over-IP solution Nexxis even more valuable for them, they indicated that they had difficulties in servicing and monitoring the install base in the field. That motivated our team to work out a solution that offers better troubleshooting capabilities by using Nexxis’s basic concepts of network connectivity, solution simplicity and surgical focus. The result is NexxisCare, our new cloud-based remote monitoring solution for the digital OR, which I am proud to present today.”

OR Integrators, Service Managers and Biomedical Engineers will enjoy an intuitive dashboard of the status of their ORs per facility. They can zoom in to each OR’s devices for detailed reports and problem analyses. An intuitive interface guides the user to the failure, offering graphics on fiber quality, device temperature and fan speed, a problem description and repair advice.
