Medicine
LAUREL, MD - The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) is pleased to announce the unveiling of a new benefit available to all members. Continuing medical education (CME) credits are now free for members through online submission of CME self-study tests from the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine (JUM). Without any dues increase, the AIUM Board of Governors unanimously approved the launch of this valuable member benefit. This new benefit further supports the AIUM's commitment to providing quality educational opportunities for its members. JUM CME self-study tests are a fast and convenient way for members to obtain their needed credits, and now it's more economical than ever before.
AIUM President Joshua Copel, MD, commented, "The value this benefit adds to an individual's membership more than pays for the cost of membership itself and supports the continuing education needs of our members. Furthermore, I'm exceptionally pleased the AIUM is in a position to provide such value to our members without any increase in dues for the 5th year in a row."
The JUM provides 2 or 3 CME self-study tests in every issue. CME tests are valid for 3 years after the publication date, thus offering members access to 84 CME tests, each worth up to 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from current and archived issues of JUM Online. Members can browse tests by specialty to find tests most pertinent to their interest areas. After tests are submitted online, an e-mail confirmation is sent to the participant with the test results. The message can be printed and submitted to an individual's certifying agency, indicating the CME credit earned. Nonmembers are still charged a fee for test submission, as are all individuals who submit their tests by mail.

With the initiation of this bold new benefit, the AIUM further distinguishes itself from other associations when it comes to the number of ultrasound-related free CME opportunities with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ status. Physicians and sonographers alike can submit their credits to their board-certifying agencies, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to maintain their credentials and certifications.
The AIUM offers many other CME opportunities for its members through its annual convention, postgraduate courses, and CME video programs. For more information, visit the AIUM website at www.aium.org.
