Intelerad has acquired LUMEDX
Intelerad Medical Systems has acquired LUMEDX, a developer of healthcare analytics and cardiovascular information systems.

The deal enables Intelerad to offer customers greater cardiovascular expertise and analytical skills through its enterprise imaging applications, especially for those tending to heart-related diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As we work through the integration, Intelerad customers will have access to an expanded suite of connected PACS, CPACS, CVIS and worklist solutions, as well as deeper analytics capabilities, increasing automation and ease-of-use that enables them to drive clinical efficiency and focus on providing improved patient care. This acquisition will, over time, provide for deeper analytics expertise that can be leveraged for other specialties as well," Mike Lipps, CEO of Intelerad, told HCB News.

Among the solutions LUMEDX brings to Intelerad are HealthView Analytics, which provides performance insights embedded into the EHR to reduce avoidable care costs; CardioPACS, a fully integrated cardiovascular PACS solution where physicians can review images and patient data simultaneously; and HealthView ECG Manager, a cloud-based ECG management system that can oversee different data types from different vendors in more than 10 modalities and capture, store and annotate patient monitoring strips. In addition, the company provides analytics for orthopedics, neurology, spine and maternal/fetal medicine, and serves over 150 hospitals and health systems.

Customers of both Lumedx and Intelerad will also have access to an expanded team of customer service representatives globally and will be part of a larger community of providers who can collaborate and share best practice use cases across hospital and health systems as well as radiology and imaging centers.

The deal is expected to put Intelerad in a position where it can help hospitals, health systems and imaging centers consolidate enterprise imaging requirements on a single-vendor platform. This, according to both companies, is needed due to the decline and postponement of cardiovascular procedures over the last year by COVID-19, a trend that they expect will rebound in 2021.

"Hospitals are under pressure to do more while spending less. An integrated suite of imaging, archiving and worklist tools across multiple "ologies" will enable hospitals to achieve that goal AND improve patient care," said Lipps.

The acquisition is also the third completed by Intelerad in the last six months. It follows that of Digisonics, which enhanced Intelerad’s portfolio for cardiovascular and obstetrics/gynecology solutions; and Radius, a private cloud platform provider.

“Over the last two and a half decades, LUMEDX has been laser-focused on our vision of delivering an end-to-end suite of software and services that improves continuity of care,” said Allyn McAuley, chief executive officer and co-founder of LUMEDX, in a statement. “Joining forces with Intelerad enables us to further achieve this goal, as well as provide customers increased automation that results in greater clinical efficiency and improved patient care.”

The LUMEDX name will remain the same, although the logo will to "LUMEDX, an Intelerad company."
