Pearl Technology announces the introduction of its innovative ProBelt system. ProBelt is the first completely hook-and-loop free belt system for a perfectly hygienic patient immobilization on the CT.

Patient belts and fixation straps are standard equipment in computer tomography and are commonly used to stabilize traumatized and disoriented emergency patients on the CT table. Due to the nature of these straps with fabric and hook and loop fasteners, cleaning and disinfection is a cumbersome, timeconsuming and sometimes an impossible undertaking, which can lead to serious infection risks, not only during times of pandemic.

To address these issues associated with conventional straps/belts, Pearl Technology AG’s ProBelts are made of a durable PU foil and patients are stabilized on the CT table using a simple and quick to use button hole fastener. The smooth surface can be easily disinfected after each examination, even with 90% alcohol. The ProBelt system is compatible with the CT tables of all common equipment manufacturers using different rail adapters.

First customer feedbacks are overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the unique advantages with regards to hygiene. “It is impossible to avoid a contamination of the conventional ‘fabric-based belts/straps’ provided by the CT-equipment manufacturers. At the same time, a quick and proper disinfection bringing down the contamination of these straps below the maximum tolerable level, is also impossible. [...].
