The InterMed Group, an independent service organization, has acquired Modern Biomedical & Imaging, which offers hospitals asset and healthcare technology management services.
Modern Biomedical's background in on-site maintenance for clinical and diagnostic equipment is expected to help bolster the biomedical and diagnostic imaging services offered by InterMed.
“With the Modern Biomedical team joining forces with the InterMed Group we believe this creates the ultimate healthcare technology management solution for our customer’s needs,” Randy Bullard, chief executive officer for Modern Biomedical & Imaging, said in a statement.
The two will integrate Modern Biomedical's operations, which will provide its clientele with access to InterMed’s services. InterMed has a team of HTM professionals that perform preventive maintenance and repairs for hospitals and customize delivery service plans for them based on their budgets. It also offers total asset management, logistics planning and consultations for capital planning and equipment purchase decisions, as well as inventory analysis. It provides services for nuclear medical imaging modalities like PET; ultrasound; X-ray; CT; MR; DR and CR; and various lab equipment.
In addition, the company recently unveiled
a suite of cyber protection services in response to growing concerns about ransomware and other forms of malware. The program includes education, physical inventory assessment and integrated services for prevention, detection and containment.
Based in Irving, Texas, Modern Biomedical works with hospitals to increase their revenue streams by reducing costs for parts, consolidating its service agreements and maximizing its equipment uptime. This allows healthcare providers to allocate their resources to multiple areas. Like InterMed, Modern offers preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment inventory management and reduction in parts costs. It also conducts electrical safety inspections and replacement recommendations, as well as in-service training.
"Modern fit the ideal strategic opportunity for us because of their reputation in our industry, cultural similarities, geographical concentration, and their talented and skilled employees. We feel that will enhance the services offered by InterMed in HTM, specifically we're excited about what they bring that enhances our anesthesia and sterilization capabilities," Rick Staab, CHTM chief executive officer for The InterMed Group, told HCB News.
Last year in February 2020, InterMed acquired Sigma Imaging Technologies
, a provider of imaging systems in New Jersey. That deal enabled InterMed to expand its footprint to the east coast and integrated Sigma’s services for MR, CT and PET imaging, including preventive and corrective maintenance, MR magnet services and parts repair. Sigma also manufactures and distributes MR, CT and PET systems across North America, including mobile units, and provides equipment evaluation, refurbishment, installation, removal, relocation and storage services.
Modern Biomedical will be branded as part of The InterMed Group moving forward.
Financial details for the InterMed and Modern Biomedical deal were not disclosed.
