The US-based manufacturer of medical equipment, Criticare Systems Inc., has signed an agreement of purchase by leading Indian medical equipment manufacturer Opto Circuits for $70 million.

Opto's managing director. Vinod Ramnani said that the acquisition will expand Opto's presence in patient monitoring since Criticare is known for high-quality innovative products and service. He said that the transaction would open global markets for Criticare's products and enhance Opto's product offerings in the United States. Criticare is the manufacturer of vital signs monitors, anesthesia gas monitors, and pulse oximeters for the global market.
Opto Circuits makes medical electronics, including optical sensors, security systems and optoelectronic equipment. The company also designs optoelectronic devices.

Criticare will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Opto Circuits, which intends to fund the acquisition through a third party.
