American International, localed in Sylmar, California, buys, sells, trades, refurbishes and repairs used medical equipment, but what makes it stand out from the competition, according to DOTmed Certified owner Joe Avina is a "commitment to customer satisfaction (where we) back up all our products with a one year parts and labor warranty, minimum."


Their online support also sets them apart.

In business for over 24 years, American International also specializes in cardio equipment, defibrillators, EKG recorders, fitness equipment, Holter monitors, and telemetry systems.

"We are a full service company and can provide service manuals, online support, replacement parts and service contracts," Avina's website notes, adding that it also carry manuals and parts for factory un-supported equipment.

"We also maintain sufficient staff so that a real person answers the phone during working hours," Avina explains, noting 10 employees are on staff full time.

American International Medical has both US and international clients, the bulk of whom are doctors, clinics, hospitals and dealers.

Avina works with a few select wholesalers to maintain his inventory, and his company supports all current and no-longer-factory-supported models.

"We're growing and very busy," Avina concludes, "but one trend we're seeing is the tremendous pressure on price and lack of quality products being sold."
