A 46-year-old man has been charged in the shooting at a Florida hospital in Coral Springs.

Sami Qureshi filmed himself on July 2 shooting four bullets into the fourth-floor glass windows of Broward Health Coral Springs. He also traveled around Broward County shooting at other buildings and posted videos of him doing so on social media, according to CBS Miami.

He has been charged with one count of shooting into an occupied building and one count of introduction or removal of certain articles.
With surveillance footage and the help of Broward Health Coral Springs staff, investigators identified Qureshi and searched for him on social media, where they came across his videos. One showed him shooting at the hospital from his car.

Qureshi had been posting since May, according to his Facebook page, where he expressed anger toward the hospital for what he deemed to be mistreatment of his mom, whose leg was amputated, according to WSVN 7News. His videos also showed him “practicing drive-by’s” where he shot at a tree as though it were the hospital.

WSVN 7News spoke with his father, Aeaullah Qureshi, who tried to explain his son’s reasoning. “The doctor told him that she [his mother] was going to die soon, maybe a week or so or maybe two weeks. That made him extremely upset … so he came outside, and he shot, you know, maybe two, three or four, I really don’t know.”

Qureshi was arrested by Sunrise Police on July 5 for unrelated charges. Detectives interviewed him about the shootings at the Broward County jail, where he allegedly confessed.

Qureshi went before a judge on July 7. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, according to the Coral Springs PD.
