BL: As part of an integrated health system that offers both clinical care and health plan services to the community, Lakeview is well-positioned to adapt and advance as a healthcare hub within the St. Croix Valley. BL: I’ve been surprised to feel so completely welcome, included and valued at Lakeview, within the St. Croix Valley team and HealthPartners. I’m so pleased to be part of such a values-driven organization where you can truly feel it every day. I’m committed to continuing that culture.

HCB News: Do you see the pandemic altering care delivery in any fundamental, long-term ways?
BL: I believe the changes to the workforce and the pandemic’s effect on health care workers has significantly altered how we’ll approach our work in the future. HealthPartners was again recognized as a great place to work this year, and it will be imperative that we adapt with the changing needs and expectations of the caregivers who are vital to continuing our excellence in patient care and services. We have embraced colleague well-being as key to supporting those who work tirelessly to meet our patients’ needs. Leadership and innovation in this area will be as important as clinical advancement in the future of health care.

HCB News: What is one of the most important lessons you’ve learned in your career?
BL: The role of health care in our community is to serve the needs of others in collaboration with those we serve. Success is not defined by what you have done, but by the impact you’ve made. When I look back on my career to this point, it’s those things that I know helped my team or our patients or community the most that give me the greatest pride. Those accomplishments were also not possible without the collective efforts of many, including collaborations within and outside the walls of the hospital. I love being part of a community hospital because of the opportunity to become an active part of the community. I look forward to getting to know my new home and serving the community well.
