CEDAR PARK, Texas, September 15, 2022 – ETS-Lindgren announced support of the International Microwave Symposium (IMS2023) to be held in San Diego, California, on Sunday, June 11, to Friday, June 16, 2023, as well as its "prequel" Workshop on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Located at Qualcomm in San Diego, the half-day Workshop features presentations from top industry engineers who will provide insights into recent advances on a broad spectrum of topics as well as a glimpse into what will be featured on the technical program at IMS2023. For example, attendees at the September 28 Workshop will learn about Model-Based Systems Engineering, Power Amplifier Linearization, mmWave ICs for Massive MIMO, and Automotive Antenna Range Testing. The free-to-attend Workshop – open to IEEE members and nonmembers alike – starts at 12:30 pm PDT with a complimentary lunch and ends at 5:00 pm PDT with closing comments from Michelle Thompson, IEEE San Diego Section Chair and IMS2023 organizing committee member. An introduction to the many IMS2023 student volunteer opportunities, as well as an overview of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) International Leadership Conference to be co-located with IMS2023, will also be included. Refreshment breaks will encourage networking amongst the attendees.

The Workshop technical program includes the following topics presented by industry experts:

Update: Women in Microwaves and Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference Activities including Synergy with Region DE&I Initiatives – Kathy Hayashi, IEEE Region 6 Director-Elect, Qualcomm, San Diego, CA

Elevating Digital Radio Performance to New Thresholds for Wireless Infrastructure – Kevin Chuang, Technology Leader, Analog Devices, Wilmington, MA

Evolution of Active Antenna Systems for 5G FR-2 Applications – Ian Gresham, Anokiwave Fellow, Chief Systems Architect, Anokiwave, Cambridge, MA

Simulation of Antenna Measurements Using Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) – Dennis Lewis, Technical Fellow, The Boeing Company, Seattle, WA

Vehicle Antenna Testing – Garth D'Abreu, Director, Automotive Solutions, ETS-Lindgren, Cedar Park, TX

"This event was created to inform the local technical community of the exciting opportunities available at IMS2023 in San Diego," explained Janet O'Neil, Customer Relations Manager with ETS-Lindgren and member of the IMS2023 organizing committee "In pre-pandemic 2019, IMS boasted nearly 9,500 attendees from more than 50 countries around the globe, as well as a record-breaking 650 exhibiting companies, making it the largest event dedicated to the radio frequency and microwave industry in the world. A symposium of this scale requires support from volunteers; local students especially will have a great opportunity as volunteers to attend sessions and social events at no charge as one of the 'perks' for contributing their time to IMS2023. Please join us at the Workshop on September 28 to learn more about IMS2023 and about how you can get involved!"

Did you know IMS2023 is co-located with the RFIC Symposium and the ARFTG Microwave Measurement Conference? IMS is part of Microwave Week, a group of co-located IEEE conferences that includes the Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium (RFIC) on June 11 to 13, 2023, and the Automatic Radio Frequency Techniques Group (ARFTG) on June 16, 2023. IMS2023 is also co-locating with the 2023 IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, IMS2023 symposium headquarters. Attend technical papers, scientific workshops, and industry panels of experts, plus visit the extensive exhibition, at IMS2023!

As an industry leader in the components and systems used globally for Automotive, EMC, RF, and Microwave Test and Measurement, ETS-Lindgren is proud to support the activity of IMS2023 in order to share best practices and advance technology.
