The new meter uses
Medtronic-certified
wireless technology
On the heels of FDA approval announced April 28, Medtronic is actively working to provide its newest OneTouch(R) UltraLink Blood Glucose Meter to all its customers as soon as possible. The new wireless meter is exclusively certified by Medtronic to wirelessly communicate with Medtronic diabetes management products in the United States.
The new meter uses Medtronic-certified wireless technology to transmit glucose readings directly to MiniMed Paradigm(R) insulin pumps and the Guardian(R) REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring System. Together, the systems allow bolus dosing more accurately and easier compared to the manual entry of blood glucose readings.
All new U.S. customers who order a MiniMed or Guardian systems will receive the OneTouch UltrLink Meter at no extra charge. The company will immediately start shipping the new meters at no charge to eligible U.S. customers and plans to complete the process later this year.

"We are committed to leading the technology in diabetes management and in delivering best-in-class solutions to patients," says Chris O'Connell, president of Medtronic's Diabetes Business. "Together with LifeScan, we will continue to advance the opportunities for people with diabetes to proactively and conveniently manage their diabetes while maximizing their quality of life."
The OneTouch meter is the newest addition to the OneTouch Meter family, the number-one prescribed meter brand. Using the OneTouch Ultra Test strip, data transmitted from the meter can be viewed via Medtronic's proprietary CareLink Therapy Management Software, the only software, the company literature explains, that integrates meter, logbook, insulin pump and real-time glucose monitoring information, helping both patients and physicians to more easily assess and manage the disease.
