Sacramento, CA — November 1 – The first MitraClip procedure using EchoPixel's Holographic Therapy Guidance (HTG) was performed by Structural Heart Physicians at UC Davis Health. The image acquisition was led by Edris Aman M.D. while the procedure was performed and HTG guidance utilized by Gagan Singh M.D., director, Cardiovascular Research Unit.

MitraClip is a procedure that approximates the mitral valve leaflets thereby addressing an incompetent valve that is regurgitating, also known as "leaking." Significant mitral regurgitation prevalence rates are estimated to be up to 10% to 25% in patients in their seventies. During the procedure, operators implant one or more clips onto the valve leaflets with real-time echocardiographic imaging. Clinical data suggests MitraClip helps improve symptoms and survival in appropriately selected patients.

"The procedure went smoothly thanks to this new technology," said Dr. Singh. "As a group, we feel HTG has the potential to increase procedural efficiency and simplify many complex structural heart procedures in addition to MitraClip."

EchoPixel's HTG technology is the first turnkey solution that is FDA approved and allows doctors to manipulate a real-time 4D hologram to guide their procedure. The software platform uses standard medical images to create a digital twin of a patient, enabling doctors to experience it as a 4D interactive hologram, interacting with the patient's organs and tissues as if they were actual, physical objects. This technology enables real-time accurate situational awareness of catheters and implantable devices in relation to complex anatomy.

"I am honored to work with the innovative team at UC Davis Health," said EchoPixel founder and CEO Sergio Aguirre. "I look forward to continue expanding these and other relationships as practitioners increasingly recognize the value in solutions like ours."
