Richardson Healthcare had a new CT tube on display this year at ECR, the ALTA750G, designed as a form-fit-function replacement tube for the Canon Medical Systems CXB-750G tube (Varex Imaging MCS-7178A).

The part is fully compatible with the Aquilion Prime S and Aquilion Prime SP scanners. Each X-ray tube housing assembly has the large and small focal spot measured, meets OEM specification, and undergoes a radiation leak check to ensure they meet FDA and IEC radiation leakage standards.

Richardson Healthcare, a division of Richardson Electronics, sells the part as part of an X-ray tube installation kit that includes a new high voltage cable and a cleaning/grease kit.
“We are pleased to launch the second tube in our ALTA750 Series after extensive beta testing. This tube provides hospitals with an option to OEM service for Canon CT scanners,” said Ed Richardson, Richardson Electronics president and CEO.

The company unveiled its first tube, the ALTA750, in May 2018 as a replacement for the CXB-750D/4A tube, (the Varex Imaging MCS-7078) in a range of Toshiba (Canon Medical Systems) CT scanners. The new tubes were also packaged with a Heat Exchanger and HV Cable Kit.

This made it one of the few global companies with the design and manufacturing capabilities necessary to produce CT tubes.

The ALTA750 is compatible with the Aquilion 4, Aquilion 8/16, Aquilion 32/64, Aquilion 16 Large Bore, Aquilion CXL, Aquilion RXL, Aquilion VeloCT, and Aquilion Prime Gen 1 CT scanners.

The same year, the company gained ISO 13485:2016 certification, validating its ability to develop, produce and distribute medical devices that are safe for use, particularly its CT solutions and power grid tubes.

The ALTA750G comes with a prorated 12-month or 200,000 slice count limited warranty.
