Service provider Radon Medical Imaging, headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia, has acquired Tristate Biomedical Solutions, in Franklin, Ohio, adding new solutions to its portfolio; expanding its current range of new and used X-ray, C-arm and biomedical equipment it sells and refurbishes; and extending its geographic footprint in the Midwest.
Founded in 2009, TBS services, assembles, repairs, sells, and distributes imaging, respiratory, and biomedical solutions for hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, doctor's offices, fire departments, and veterinary offices in Northern Kentucky and Ohio’s Cincinnati and Dayton areas.
Radon was founded in 1976, and today services ten different imaging modalities, including general X-ray, PET/CT, MR, fluoroscopy, cardiac cath lab, urology, digital DR and CR, C-arm equipment, and select PACS systems for hospitals, health systems, and other providers in 16 states in the Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast.
In addition to its Charleston headquarters, it has warehouses and offices in Moneta, Virginia; Rome, Georgia; and Gaffney, South Carolina, and a nationwide staff of 140 employees. TBS is the second add-on deal for Radon this year, following its acquisition of Premier Imaging Medical Systems in Q4 2022. It also is one of two authorized agents in the U.S. for United Imaging’s MR, PET/CT, and X-ray equipment.
“By joining Radon, we'll be able to utilize a larger engineering knowledge base, offer additional products to sell to our clients, access better financial backing, and enhance career paths for our employees,” said Tyler Thornberry, president of TBS, in a statement.
TBS previously expanded its respiratory portfolio through a 2021 merger with Nightingale-Alan Medical Equipment Services. The same year, Omni Imaging Service, in Mandeville, Louisiana, which exclusively sells, repairs, and maintains C-arms from GE HealthCare, became a division under it, giving it a presence in the Southeast. Omni Imaging Services also reconditions equipment and sells parts nationwide.
As part of the deal with Radon, Thornberry will join the company’s leadership team and remain a shareholder.
The TBS deal closed in June 2023.
