ETS-Lindgren announces technical contributions to AMTA 2023 – industry’s leading symposium on antenna measurement techniques

CEDAR PARK, Texas, October 5, 2023 – ETS-Lindgren announced its technical contributions to AMTA 2023, the annual Meeting and Symposium of the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA). The symposium, hosted by The Boeing Company and co-hosted by ETS-Lindgren, will be held in person from October 8 to 13 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington in Renton, Washington, ideally located south of Seattle. ETS-Lindgren’s contributions include presentations and research papers on varied topics documenting the company’s expertise in Wireless, Over-the-Air (OTA), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave Test and Measurement System Solutions.

The presentations contributed by ETS-Lindgren begin with the popular “Boot Camp” on Sunday, October 8, from 8:00 am to 5:15 pm. This program addresses the fundamentals of RF- and antenna-related measurements with lectures complemented by live demonstrations. ETS-Lindgren’s Zhong Chen, Chief Engineer, will speak on and present a demonstration of “EMI/EMC Measurements.” Janet O’Neil, Customer Relations Manager with ETS-Lindgren, and Vice Chair of the AMTA 2023 Symposium Host Committee, will present during the “Women in Engineering” reception on Thursday, October 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This new event at AMTA is co-sponsored by ETS-Lindgren and The Boeing Company.

Monday, October 9, Session 3: Standards and Characterization, from 1:30 to 3:10 pm. From 2:10 to 2:30 pm, Mr. Chen will present the paper “Progress on the Development of IEEE Std 1128 - Recommended Practice on Absorber Evaluation.” Co-authored by Vince Rodriguez of AMETEK / NSI-MI Technologies and Lars Foged of MVG,the paper provides an update of this standard, which has been used widely for absorber evaluations in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) applications as well as in antenna and microwave measurement applications. Proposed changes noted in the paper include extending the upper frequency limit to 40 GHz and possibly beyond. Mr. Chen is chair of the working group developing the new edition of this standard.

Tuesday, October 10, Session 5: Imaging, Algorithms, and Processing Techniques, from 8:30 to 9:30 am. From 8:30 to 8:50 am, Mr. Chen will present the paper “Novel Application of Compressed Sensing in Cylindrical Mode Filtering for Far-Field Antenna Measurements,” co-authored by Stuart Gregson of Next Phase Measurements and ETS-Lindgren’s Yibo Wang, RF Engineer. Later in this session, from 8:50 to 9:10 am, Mr. Wang will present the paper “A Novel Data Processing Technique for Calibrating Low Frequency Antennas with Long Ring Down Time in An Extrapolation Range,” co-authored by Mr. Chen as well as Wayne Cooper and Dennis Lewis of The Boeing Company.
