GE HealthCare's SIGNA Champion MR
GE HealthCare spent the first day of the European Congress of Radiology annual meeting in Vienna showing radiologists, providers, and other medical technology companies its recently launched 1.5T wide-bore SIGNA Champion MR system, designed with a medley of AI tools to put image quality in small, rural facilities on par with that of large, academic, and urban healthcare practices.

The solution originally debuted at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 2023 Annual Meeting in Chicago back in November, and has the smallest footprint of any of GE HealthCare’s MR systems. The shorter scan times save power, increase throughput, and enhance patient experience.

“With its highly scalable platform, SIGNA Champion is designed to support broader affordability, configurability, and upgradability to support services expansion for health systems. This can help improve health equity, allowing a wider range of access to the most advanced technologies for all patients,” GE HealthCare said in November.

The scanner utilizes the following components:

AIR Recon DL: The deep-learning-based MR image reconstruction software cuts imaging time in half and enhances image quality for all anatomies.
Sonic DL: Captures high-quality MR images in one heartbeat, reducing scan time by up to 83%. This extends cardiac imaging to patients with arrhythmias and breath-holding challenges for fast and comfortable exams.
AIR Coils: Adjusts to the human body’s shape to boost comfort, image quality, and PET quantitation. The solution, which is lighter and thinner than conventional RF coils, wraps around patients like a blanket and is especially helpful for pregnant and bariatric patients, osteoporosis patients, and those with back problems and breathing difficulties.

In addition to the SIGNA Champion MR system, the company showcased and debuted its next-level LOGIQ ultrasound portfolio, which includes the LOGIQ Totus, a versatile ultrasound solution with advanced transducers to integrate the handheld, wireless Vscan Air CL probe, and functionality for assessing patient needs in different clinical settings. It also has AI-powered decision support and voice control to increase productivity and minimize complexities.

New AI-based workflow and decision-support tools were also added to the LOGIQ E10 Series and LOGIQ Fortis, and the Vscan Air CL handheld ultrasound can be integrated as well as a wireless dual-probe with curved and linear transducers, providing more flexibility.
